Lechia Gdansk assistant coach Vlasdyslav Lupashko has emphasised the need for full focus ahead of Saturday's away match against newly-promoted side Stal Rzeszów. The Gdańsk team, sitting 8th in I Liga with 13 points after nine games, travel for the fixture in excellent form, having won four of their last five matches.
Speaking to the club's media, Lupashko admitted Lechia cannot afford to underestimate their opponent. "We respect every rival, and Stal Rzeszów is a team that has already shown this season they know how to fight," the assistant coach said. He added that maintaining high intensity from the first minute will be key, similar to their last 3:1 win against Ruch Chorzów.
Lechia heads to Rzeszów on a run of three consecutive victories. In their last outing against Ruch Chorzów, goals came from M. Glogowski, J. Adkonis and T. Neugebauer. This highlights the team's attacking potential, having scored 17 goals this season. Lupashko noted, however, that the team must improve defensively, where they have conceded 15.
The team has a chance to close the gap on the league leaders. Lechia currently trails top-placed Pogoń Grod. Mazowiecki by five points. A win over Stal Rzeszów, who sit just above in 7th place, would be an important step.
The assistant coach also stated the entire squad is fit and ready, with no major injury concerns. This gives the manager the option to select his optimal lineup for this important clash. Lechia will be looking to repeat the offensive fireworks from their previous home game, a 7:1 victory over Stal Mielec.
Lechia Gdansk's match against Stal Rzeszów takes place on Saturday, 12 October.
