Lechia Gdansk are on the verge of finally registering their summer signing, Narek Howhannisjan, for league action. The 20-year-old Armenian international, who joined the club on 10 September, has been unable to make his debut due to work permit formalities, which have now been completed.

Head coach Władysław Łupaszko confirmed the player is ready and waiting only for official league registration. "He is ready to play: both physically and mentally, but the formal issues related to registration are not yet finalised." said Łupaszko. Howhannisjan was brought in permanently from BKMA Yerevan, with his contract in Gdansk running until 30 June 2031.

Profile of the new signing

The young Armenian is primarily a left winger, though he can also operate on the right. For his previous club, he made 81 appearances, scoring 16 goals and providing 9 assists. He already has four caps for the Armenia senior national team. His arrival is meant to offset the loss of several key players during the summer transfer window.

The club, currently 8th in the I Liga table with 13 points, is on a three-game winning streak, including a recent 3-1 victory over Ruch Chorzów. The next test is an away match against 7th-placed Stal Rzeszów on Monday, 12 October. This is the fixture where Howhannisjan could make his long-awaited debut for Lechia, providing a boost for a team in good form.

"He is ready. We are only waiting for the registration," added coach Łupaszko, noting that the entire process of obtaining the documents took about a month. The player has been training with the squad for some time, and the club is now working to finalise the league paperwork. Lechia Gdansk's current squad and season statistics are available in the squad and stats sections.
