The Polish Football Association has changed the referee appointment for Lechia Gdansk's upcoming match. Instead of the originally assigned Tomasz Musiał, the game against Stal Mielec on Saturday will be officiated by referee Paweł Raczkowski.
The decision was announced on Wednesday through the federation's official channel. No reason was given for the change of official shortly before the league fixture. Lechia Gdansk, which finished the previous season in 16th place in the I Liga with 38 points, returns to action after the summer break. The Gdańsk side lost all of its last five matches, including the final game against Nieciecza 2-3.
The referee change is an additional factor in preparations for the first match of the new season. Lechia's coach will have to configure tactics considering the new official's style of managing games.
For Lechia, which scored 62 goals last year but conceded 65, every point at the start will be important. The club will want to break the losing streak and begin the season with a good result at home. The match against Stal Mielec will take place on Saturday at Lechia's stadium.
