Lechia Gdansk have secured a transfer to replace the loaned-out Camilo Mena. The club is set to pay up to one million euro for Armenian international Artur Serobyan, as announced on September 10th.
Foreign media report that Lechia will pay a million euro for Serobyan. "Artur Serobyan, the player in question, is set to cost a million euro," Serobyan said. The move aims to fill the void left by the Colombian midfielder, who moved to Korona Kielce on loan with an option to buy in the recent transfer window. For the loan itself, Lechia received one million euro.
Star of the Armenian league
Artur Serobyan was named the best player of the previous season in the Armenian Premier League. After moving to Ararat, he scored seven goals and provided two assists in 27 appearances. He also has 28 caps for the Armenia national team. He is expected to join the squad under Władysław Łupaszko only at the beginning of February, as Ararat wants to keep him for the Europa League group stage.
Context in I Liga
Lechia Gdansk currently sit 11th in I Liga with 10 points from 8 games. The team has recorded four wins and one defeat in its last five matches, most recently beating Miedz Legnica 2-1 at home. Lechia's next fixture is away to 18th-placed Puszcza Niepołomice on October 24th. The first-team squad status can be checked on our squad page, and the upcoming schedule on fixtures.
The signing of Serobyan is a strategic response to the departure of Mena, who managed an assist in the 2-1 loss to Nieciecza this season. The new player is intended to bolster the team's attacking potential, having scored 10 league goals so far.
