Lechia Gdansk has completed a record sale, transferring Tomáš Bobček to Italian side Frosinone Calcio. The move was officially confirmed by both clubs on Wednesday, August 28, 2026, as reported by Lechia Gdansk's official website.
The Slovak striker spent three years at Lechia after joining from MFK Ružomberok in September 2023. He made 74 official appearances, scoring 38 goals. His crowning achievement was winning the Ekstraklasa top scorer title in the 2025/2026 season with 20 goals and 6 assists, totaling 26 points and first place in the goals and assists classification. This form also earned him a call-up to the Slovakia national team, making his senior debut in June 2025.
What makes this a record deal?
Bobček's transfer is permanent. The player signed a five-year contract with Frosinone. The fee was not officially disclosed, but reports indicate it is a record sale for Lechia Gdansk. The base fee is approximately €10.76 million, with half payable within a week. With add-ons, the total could rise to €13 million. If that full amount is achieved, it would be the highest fee for a player sold directly from the Polish league.
Lechia's previous transfer record was €2.6 million, set in 2018 from the sale of Vanja Milinković-Savić to Torino. Lechia originally acquired Bobček from Ružomberok for €600,000 in 2023. From the fee received from Italy, 25% will go to the Slovak club, and an additional 5% will go to the solidarity mechanism for clubs where Bobček trained between ages 12 and 23, including Lechia itself.
What is Lechia's situation after the transfer?
The Gdańsk club must now navigate I Liga without their top scorer. Lechia currently sits 16th in the table with just 4 points from five matches (1 win, 1 draw, 3 losses). Their recent form reads WLDLL. The goal difference is -6, with 3 scored and 9 conceded. They trail leaders Pogoń Grod. Mazowiecki by 7 points. The next fixture is against Puszcza Niepołomice on October 24. Full schedule details are available on our fixtures page.
Reports suggest Lechia has already identified Bobček's replacement, said to be Vladislav Blanuta from Dynamo Kyiv. This continues the summer's transfer activity, which earlier saw Kacper Sezonienko move to Hellas Verona for around €1 million. Transfers between Lechia and Italian clubs are not new. In the past, players like Indrit Mavraj (from Bari), Lukáš Haraslín (from Parma), Adam Buksa (from Novara), Michał Chrapek (from Catania), Błażej Augustyn (from Ascoli), and Rafał Wolski (from Fiorentina) have joined Lechia. There have also been sales to Italy, like Wojciech Pawłowski's move to Udinese Calcio in 2012 for half the Sezonienko fee.
What does this transfer mean for the club's budget?
The record income significantly alters Lechia Gdansk's financial landscape. It allows for squad reinforcement in key areas, which is an urgent need given the difficult league start. Funds can be allocated not only for a new striker but also to bolster other positions. The current team roster can be viewed on our squad page. The club faces the challenge of deploying these resources quickly to improve sporting results and close the gap in the standings. The immediate objective is to climb out of the lower part of the table, with every point in the coming matches being vital.
