Lechia Gdansk will benefit from the 2026 World Cup thanks to its players' participation in the qualifiers and the tournament itself. Alex Paulsen, the only player from Lechia, will start competing in the tournament on October 16, playing in the match between New Zealand and Iran. FIFA has allocated 350 million dollars to clubs that provide players for the World Cup, meaning Lechia Gdansk can expect significant financial support. From this fund, the club will receive 11,800 dollars for its players' participation in the qualifiers.

Interestingly, Lechia Gdansk will not earn from Alex Paulsen, as the goalkeeper was only loaned out in August 2025, while New Zealand played its qualifying matches earlier. However, other players like Tomas Bobcek and Alvis Jaunzems contributed to the club's earnings, each bringing in 4,720 dollars for their appearances.

An additional 2,360 dollars from this pool was secured by Bujar Pllana, who was a reserve in the playoff semifinal match against Poland. Thanks to these achievements, Lechia Gdansk can count on financial support that will contribute to the club's further development.

FIFA will distribute these funds to clubs through national football associations, in Poland via the PZPN, after the conclusion of the entire tournament. The FIFA Club Benefits Programme aims to reward clubs that supported players on their way to the World Cup, making it a crucial aspect of funding for Lechia Gdansk.
