Lechia Gdansk is facing serious financial consequences after relegation from Ekstraklasa. The club will lose millions due to its drop from the elite league, which could have catastrophic effects on its future. In the 2025-26 season, despite a harsh penalty of five points deducted, the team performed decently for most of the season, but recent results have been tragic. In the last seven matches, they earned only one point, leading to their relegation to a lower league. President Paulo Urfer assures that the club is fighting in the Court of Arbitration for Sport to restore the deducted points, but the chances of returning to Ekstraklasa are slim.

The financial situation of Lechia Gdansk is alarming. The trojmiasto.pl portal calculated that in the 2025-26 season, the club earned over 11 million złoty, which includes various sources of income, such as amounts for sporting results and the so-called parachute payments for relegated teams. In the upcoming season, revenues will be significantly lower, further deepening the club's financial troubles. Urfer emphasized that the squad's value, the highest in the club's 80-year history, will significantly decrease, impacting future transfer possibilities.

After relegation from Ekstraklasa, the team may lose key players like Tomas Bobcek, Camilo Mena, and Ivan Żelizko. There are strong indications that Rifet Kapić will also leave Lechia, which will further weaken the team. Fans hope for a quick return to Ekstraklasa, but without key players, this will be challenging.

The future of the coaching staff is also uncertain. John Carver and his assistant Radosław Bella have already announced their departure from the club, and Piotr Stokowiec's return to Gdańsk did not materialize. The situation at Lechia Gdansk is therefore very uncertain, and fans are anxiously awaiting developments.
