Lechia Gdansk is seeking reinforcements before the match against Ruch. Who might join the team? After the first three matches of the 2026/27 season in the Betclic 1. Liga, the white-and-green team has only one point on the board, and on Friday, August 14th, they face a demanding away match against Ruch Chorzów. In order to avoid this situation, the club must work on transfers that should improve the team's sports level under the guidance of coach Władysław Łupaszki. According to media reports on planned transfer moves, Artur Szach from Karpat Lwów and Danyło Beskorowajny from Polissy Żytomierz will be sent for medical tests before signing contracts. The latter has recently played on loan in the Azerbaijani Sumqayit. Both players are well-known to the Lechia coach, which may be significant in building the Lechia team. The candidacy of Artur Szach is particularly interesting. The offensive midfielder from Karpat Lwów may be the player who is most lacking in the current Lechia team. It is precisely the offense that is one of the elements that require quick improvement. Lechia started the season with defeats 0:3 against Pogoni Grodzisk Mazowiecki and Warta Poznań, and in the third round, they earned their first point on the road against Podbeskidzie, drawing 2:2. Goalkeeper Axel Holewiński from Pogoni Szczecin is on the verge of joining Lechia. The 20-year-old goalkeeper is a competitor for Szymon Weiraucha. The current number one of Lechia is two years older than the new player, so the introduction of a young goalkeeper should also be seen as an investment in the future. In the context of building the team, the departure of defender Bujar Pllany from Kosovo may be significant. The potential transfer of Danyło Beskorowajny will take on even greater importance. Lechia cannot afford a situation where the number of losses in defense is growing faster than the number of new players. Can any of the new players play against Ruch? This is the most important question before the Friday match. Ruch Chorzów and Lechia will face each other on August 14th at 21:00 at the Śląski Stadium. The debut of one of the new players may, however, be too early. The transfer itself does not automatically mean the possibility of playing, as the player must undergo medical tests, sign a contract, be registered for the competition, and meet all the formalities. In the case of Ukrainian players, it is particularly important to speed up the finalization of talks. The match against Ruch may be a symbol of the end of the period of makeshift team building for Lechia. If the new transfers are completed quickly, coach Władysław Łupaszko will receive arguments that he clearly needs after three rounds. At the moment, Lechia Gdańsk is in 17th place in the I Liga, with one point on the board, after three matches. In this season, Lechia has lost 8 goals, and scored 2. Lechia is in 8th place in the table, 8 points behind the leader Pogonia Grodzisk Mazowiecki. Lechia's next match will take place on October 17th, 2026, at the Gdańsk stadium, against Arka Gdynia.
