Lechia Gdansk refuses to accept its relegation from Ekstraklasa after the conclusion of the 2024/25 season. The club from the Tri-City, despite finishing in 16th place, is demanding the return of five points that were deducted due to previous financial arrears. The team led by John Carver earned 43 points on the field, which would normally ensure their survival, but only 38 points counted in the standings. Consequently, Lechia Gdansk has decided to take action to challenge the PZPN's decision. The club's president, Paolo Urfer, stated in his announcement that it is the PZPN that undermines the integrity of Ekstraklasa results by refusing to quickly resolve the matter in Lausanne through sports law experts. It is worth noting that Lechia did not grant Wieczysta the power of attorney to participate in the general meeting of Ekstraklasa SA, which is standard practice for relegated clubs. Instead, representatives from 17 clubs participated in the meeting, highlighting the unusual behavior of the Gdansk team. On Wednesday, a general meeting of Ekstraklasa SA shareholders took place in Warsaw, where Wieczysta could not participate because Lechia Gdansk did not provide them with the power of attorney. This controversial action has sparked much emotion among fans and football experts.
